OPENING HOURS

The Health Centre is open Monday - Friday 9.00 am - 6.00 pm for appointments with a doctor or nurse, medical advice, treatment, dressings, minor accidents, emergencies, immunisation and family planning.

During vacations the centre is open 9am - 5pm

Ocassionally we are closed for staff training from 12.30pm to 2.00pm. During this time, if it is an emergency and you must contact a doctor, phone the other surgery for the practice you are registered with:-

Explain that it is a MEDICAL EMERGENCY

Students need to register with the Health Centre when they become resident on site or within the catchment area.

Doctors are only present when holding their surgery and are not available on site at all times. However there is always one of the practice nurses on duty at the centre.

The Health Centre is not far from the Arts Centre and the Post Office and is located at the bottom of Health Centre Road adjacent to Car Park 6. There are 4 spaces in this car park reserved for persons visiting the doctor. There are parking spaces for disabled persons allocated in Health Centre Road.

SERVICES PROVIDED for registered patients:

  • Minor Illness Sessions
  • Treatment of acute and chronic illness
  • Referral to secondary medical services
  • Immunisation and preventative care
  • Minor accidents and first aid
  • Emergency Contraception (within 24-72 hours!)
  • Screening for certain conditions
  • Travel Clinic
  • Counselling and advice
  • Maternity services
  • Sexual Health/Cervical smear clinic

We can arrange contact with counsellors, physiotherapists, self-help groups, midwives and health visitors.

NB There is also a University Counselling service completely separate from the health centre
